RUMOR brought to Jimmy’s Camp:
The City of Fountain lights their Christmas Tree before Thanksgiving!
Jimmy’s Fact to Trade:
This rumor is true! The City does light its Christmas tree before Thanksgiving. In fact, the City has been conducting its Christmas Tree lighting on the Friday before Thanksgiving for so long that the longest tenured employee can’t remember ever lighting the tree at another time. Jimmy investigated around the city to find out why the City lights the Christmas tree when it does. Most employees remember it just always being that way. Others had some assumptions such as: maybe we light it early because majority of people go on vacation during Thanksgiving week, and we want to share the event with as many people as possible; maybe we do it to enjoy the tree lighting for the entire month of December without missing a couple of days. I think we all truly know exactly why we light the tree when we do; it’s because Santa Claus has an extremely busy schedule this time of year and wouldn’t be able to make it if the city tried to do it later. Scheduling Santa these days can be a challenge!
The city wants to thank everyone who attended the Christmas Tree Lighting event in front of City Hall this year and we want to thank all the coloring contestants for entering the contest! Because of your coloring skills, Fountain City Hall has the best Christmas wall in the front range! Want to come next year? Stay informed on the city’s website and social media for announcements of the dates, locations and time of events!
Jimmy would like to wish everyone a safe, happy and peaceful holiday season and looks forward to trading more rumors for facts in 2025!
