Fairview Cemetary

The City of Fountain owns and maintains Fairview Cemetery, which contains approximately 2,500 burial sites, the majority of which are privately owned. For information on any available plots, please contact the City Clerk at (719) 322-2000.

The cemetery’s earliest known burial is attributed to a pioneer woman who passed away in 1862 while her family traveled through the valley. In 1870, the land was homesteaded by Moses Imes, and upon his wife Mary’s death in 1871, she was interred on the family land. The Imes family later transferred ownership and operation of the cemetery to the City of Fountain. Fairview Cemetery now has over 1,600 documented burials, including more than 100 unmarked graves in its historic section. Documentation of headstones in Fairview Cemetery is available on the FindaGrave.com website.

The cemetery features many beautiful monuments and historic headstones from the late 19th century. Visitors are encouraged to take photographs, but please avoid touching these fragile markers to prevent damage. Report any signs of vandalism to the City Clerk’s Office or the Fountain Police Department.
