Lorraine School Giveaway

The City of Fountain is offering residents, businesses, and nonprofits a chance to claim surplus furniture in preparation for a massive $1.93M project to remove asbestos and other hazardous chemicals from the former Lorraine Elementary School at 301 E Iowa Avenue.  The surplus items include chairs, desks, file cabinets, shelves, and more.  All pieces available appear to be in good condition, but the City of Fountain offers no warranties or guarantees of functionality, so interested parties are encouraged to closely inspect them before or after collection.

• The giveaway will be held Wednesday November 12 through Friday Nov 14 from 8am-5pm.  If additional items remain after that, the giveaway will continue on Saturday from 8am-12pm.  Please follow the City of Fountain Government page on Facebook for updates on the availability. City Facebook
• Light duty and heavy-duty dollies will be available on site from the City of Fountain, provided the borrowers show their IDs when checking them out.  Please bring your own tools for any disassembly required.
• Anyone entering the building must sign a waiver due to a large amount of debris inside and the overall deteriorating condition, not due to any risk of exposure to harmful chemicals.
• There will be limited city staff available to help on-site, so please be patient if there are others in line ahead of you.
