Parks & Open Space Rules & Regulations

General Park Hours 

  • Metcalfe Park: 5:00 a.m. - 10:00 p.m. 

  • All other parks: Dawn to Dusk 

 

Permits and Documentation 

  • Keep a copy of the permit available at all times (digital or paper). 

  • For any park or facility issues after hours or on weekends, please contact on-call Parks personnel at (719) 331-6138 or the non-emergency line at (719) 382-8555 to request assistance. 

  • Non-profits must provide a 501(c)(3) Tax Exempt Form. 

  • Military organizations require authorization from a Company Commander or higher. 

 

Reservations 

  • Must be 18 years of age or older to reserve a facility. 

  • Reservations apply to designated facilities only; all other park attractions remain open to the public. 

  • No reservations are permitted on holiday weekends. 

  • Cancellations must be made at least five (5) days in advance of the reservation date.  Refunds will not be issued for non-use of the rented facility due to weather.  

  • Facilities must be vacated by the end of the rental time. 

 

Alcohol Policy 

  • Only beer in cans is permitted, consumed between 12:00 p.m. and 10:00 p.m. 

  • Glass containers are prohibited. 

  • Alcohol sales require a license. 

 

Vehicles and Parking 

  • Park only in designated areas. Vehicles are prohibited from driving or parking on turf, sidewalks, trails, and open spaces. 

  • For exceptions on turf, written approval from Parks Division personnel is required, with an impermeable barrier under the vehicle. 

 

Supervision and Setup 

  • Adult supervision is required at all times, including monitoring parking and attendees. 

  • Potable water is not available for activities. 

  • No staking into the ground; secure items with sandbags or cinderblocks unless approved by Parks Division. 

 

Clean-Up and Conduct 

  • Clean the reserved area after use; additional fees or suspension of future facility use may result from failure to do so. 

  • It is unlawful to deface, damage, or remove any park property. 

 

Animal Regulations 

  • Dogs must remain on a leash, and pet waste must be picked up. 

 

Prohibited Activities and Items 

  • Motorized vehicles on trails or turf 

  • Open carry of firearms 

  • Discharge of firearms 

  • Glass containers 

  • Littering/dumping 

  • Fires (except in grills) 

  • Archery, fireworks, golf 

  • Model racecars, airplanes, drones 

  • Amplified sound without prior approval 

  • Disorderly conduct, offensive language 

  • Harassment of wildlife 

  • Water balloons, confetti, glitter bombs, powder 

 

Revocation of Park Privileges 
The City reserves the right to revoke park facility use due to misconduct, misinformation on the application, misuse of property, or non-compliance with city, state, or federal regulations. Any violation of these rules may result in immediate suspension of park facility use.
